Check Out Coverage of Taylor Swift at Met Life Stadium-East Rutherford, NJ-07-22-18

It was a beautiful summer night at one of Taylor Swift’s sold out stadium shows. She was set to play three stadium shows at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, this weekend. On Friday, July 20, 2018 Taylor Swift kicked off the first show. This is home for the New York Giants football team but tonight pop star Taylor Swift was ready to take over as she headlined the show. The opening acts for the night were Charli XCX and Camila Cabello.

As I made my way over to the photo pit, I caught the second act which was Camila Cabello. She walked on stage wearing her black shorts, black and white top, and had blue braids in her hair. The first song from her setlist was “Never Be The Same” which is very popular and often aired on the radio. This young singer clearly has talent, as the crowd cheered it was obvious that she was well liked by many fans. I can definitely see Camila headlining her own show someday.

It seemed like fans at the show put a lot of thought into their wardrobe. As I looked around at the people in the crowd, I noticed girls painted glitter on their faces and some had on skirts with sparkles. One guy in the crowd even had silver glitter on his beard. A couple of girls also had matching ballerina outfits and a letters made out of cardboard that spelled Taylor Swift’s name.

This was the first time seeing Taylor Swift in concert and I was quite impressed with her performance. I’ve always known her for her country style….. well tonight I saw a different side of Taylor that was very fascinating. She was on tour supporting her new pop album “Reputation” which seems to be a big hit since it was first released on November 10, 2017. This is her sixth album that featured her chart topping hit single “Look What You Made Me Do”.  “She has become the first act to have four albums sell one million copies within one week in the US” (Wikipedia).

The pop singer opened the show with “Ready For It? “ emerging from a cloud of smoke wearing a black sequined bodysuit. Her vocals were impressive and kept on getting better and better with every song. It seemed like snakes were part of the theme for the night. Taylor belted out the lyrics to “Bad Blood” as she was standing on a snake that was suspended from a wire while taking her through the crowd. Fans who attended the show were given bracelets that glowed in the dark so Taylor could see everyone. They often changed colors in sync to her songs. During the show, Taylor stopped and paused while thanking the fans for caring about her music all of these years while attending her concerts and supporting her talents. She mentioned how most of her songs symbolize events in her personal life which she described as her diary. Her song “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together” is about breaking up with a guy. Many fans over the years have connected with Taylor Swift on a personal level through her music.

Taylor Swift ended the show with a bang while singing “We are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things “ as fireworks arose from behind the stage. Taylor’s set lasted for about 2 hours which was amazing! This was one of the best concerts I have been to. I would say Taylor’s show was a success, I was impressed by the many wardrobe changes between songs, the backup dancers and stage props which included a big snake balloon that was about 40 feet tall. I would definitely see Taylor Swift in concert again because she definitely has grown as an artist since her country days. I can see her continued success in years to come and look forward to hearing more music later down the road. Please check out her new album “Reputation.” You will not be dissapointed!
