Hellzapoppin Circus SideShow Revue at Club L.A. in Destin, FL 4-27-18

I may be a bit bias here, but the Hellzapoppin Circus SideShow Revue is possibly my favorite act on the planet. They are a world renowned traveling freak show full of wonders the eye has never seen. I met Bryce “The Govna” Graves, and Short E. Dangerously about three years ago, and had the chance to shoot their show and land an interview that I never got to publish. When I found out they were coming back to town, I had to make it up to them.

In the time span that has gone by, they have added members and changed some things around, like including Nik Sin, Ryan Stock and AmberLynn to the show, which adds in it’s own batch of brilliance. Ryan holds 17 current world records, including “Most Stiletto Knife Tapping Sets in Between Fingers in 30 Seconds”. (Seen performed below in a full on chicken suit.)

Bryce is a fantastic Ringmaster, announcing each act with thrill and excitement, as well as performing a few tricks of his own to entertain the crowd in between sets.

Short E. Dangerously is the world’s shortest daredevil, and has perfected the “Half Man Applause Meter”. He is also known for hand walking on flaming glass, entering the stage on a skateboard, balancing on a bowling ball, and so much more. I absolutely adore him, but that’s neither here nor there.

Some of Nik Sin’s best-known acts are Mini Marilyn Manson, and his Inverted Straitjacket Escape which makes him the World’s Smallest Escape Artist.

The current act includes (but is not limited to) balloon and sword swallowing, screwdriver shoved up Bryce’s nose (in a condom of course, because you have to lube your tool), live power drills up the nose and down the throat, a chainsaw held in the teeth, straight jacket escape from a high rope, walking on glass “Half- Man” style, fire breathing (when the venue allows it), and a live lawn mower complete with audience interaction in the form of throwing toilet paper into the spinning blades.

What I love the most about these guys, (which still holds true from the first time I saw them), is the sense of brotherhood and family you see on stage. Bryce and Short E. have a running joke about Bryce’s sister, which they assured me she loves, and AmberLynn works in tandem with all of Ryan’s acts as the best support system on the planet.

If you ever have the chance to check them out, DO IT. It’s every bit worth your time and money, not to mention the memories.
