Puddle Of Mudd Returns!
By: Jeremy Marquardt
Wes Scantlin has had his share of addiction issues, onstage meltdowns and legal battles. In many people’s eyes he was sadly following in the footsteps of Scott Weiland in certain ways.
In December of 2018 with reportedly 15 months sober, Wes brought his band PUDDLE OF MUDD to Chesterfield, MI for a sold out show to an audience that was bursting at the seams. This is a two-room venue and there were so many fans that they couldn’t all fit into the main room. It should be noted that the local bands including SHORT ON SHAME brought a decent chunk of fans as well.
After the locals got the two over-capacity rooms revved up, PUDDLE OF MUDD hit the stage in the theater room. Wes and the boys did not disappoint! Backlit for ambience, the band rolled through hit after hit Starting with “Control”. Wes was singing live and playing guitar and Matt, Dave, and Michael all played rock steady. When the band launched into “Famous” the crowd went nuts. An hour and a half later the last notes of “Blurry” were played. The crowd begged for more but they would be left wanting even more.
It was great to see a clearly sober Scantlin and the boys in top form and it was easy to understand why they are selling out the clubs.
