Feb. 18 — Punk band Reminders debuted the second single from its new album and the song’s video this week.
The band premiered its new single, ‘If You Want It (Don’t Let Me Down)‘ and its companion video Friday. The song and its video are the second from the band’s forthcoming album, Best of Beach Punk, which is scheduled for release April 1 through Wiretap Records and Venn Records in the U.K.
The musical arrangement featured in Reminders’ new single is a change of sound and style from the band’s then latest single. Where that song was distinctly energetic in its approach, this song’s arrangement is more contemplative, even with its energy. It is still infectious with its instrumental and vocal harmonies.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the premiere of the band’s new single and video. This critic’s own interpretation from what can be deciphered sans lyrics, is that it is sung from the standpoint of someone who does not want others to have certain expectations of him. That person just wants others to be there for him as he tries to be there for them even being who he is. Again, this is just this critic’s interpretation.
