Sevendust – Great vibes at the Newport The alternative metal band from Atlanta, performed a hugely successful show at The Newport, in Columbus – Ohio, last February 25th. The venue was packed with very excited fans that sang along every song, and left at the end of the show with huge smiles on their faces. The entire performance was charged with a highly fulfilling, very positive, energy. Vocalist and frontman, Lajon Witherspoon charmed and entranced his audience, who hang at his every word. His brilliant smile and intense eyes connected with so many fans who were frontstage, as well as the ones lining the second story balcony railing.
With a powerful voice, he delivered each song with commitment to please his audience. It was so touching when he spotted a fan in tears. It felt like we were all truly connected, and inside a rocking, beautiful, bubble. Equally involved with the audience was the bassist, Vince Hornsby, who spotted the youngest concert goers in the crowd, waved and pointed them out, tossed drumstick after drumstick to gift them with a souvenir of the Sevendust experience. The crowd seemed all very familiar with all the songs on the setlist, and showed their approval at the beginning of each song – from the opening “Black” to the final encore, “Face to Face”. It was a performance that stood out in my experience as avid concert goer, and a memory that will be cherished – they made at least one new fan that night. All I See is War – is their 14th album, and another tour, supporting the band In This Moment, will start on May 3rd in Jacksonville, Florida – and run through the month.
