March 24 — Independent rock band Sons on Fire is doing its part to address the struggles so many people have every day with their mental health through its new single and video.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Collapse‘ and the song’s companion lyric video early this month. The song connects with listeners in part through its brooding musical arrangement, which presents its own heaviness and depth through the mood that it sets through its guitar line and equally brooding vocal delivery.

Drummer Bill Nychay talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.

“We feel this is the most wide appealing most commercial song we’ve written,” Nychay said. “It sheds a light on life’s everyday problems and how suicide is not the answer. Everybody has their own problems and issues and we just want everyone to know that help is just a phone call away. You are not alone.”

The song’s lyric video follows the message in the song’s theme by presenting various individuals looking at themselves in a mirror, facing themselves and their thoughts and emotions. The visualization, together with the depth in the song’s arrangement creates a powerful overall statement that is certain to tug at audiences’ heart strings.
