April 28 — Hammerfall released the new 20th anniversary re-issue of its 2002 album, Crimson Thunder, Friday.
In celebration of its release, the band also debuted a new live clip Friday featuring the band performing a medley of songs from the album. No information was provided in the news releases about the date and location where the clip was recorded, nor is it listed in the video’s information.
Guitarist Oscar Dronjak talked briefly about the live clip in a prepared statement.
“The medley is a five minute celebration of the full album, with parts from well-known as well as never-before-played tracks, and is a highlight for both artist and audience every night,” Dronjak said.
Last month, the band premiered a new lyric video for the album’s single, ‘Riders of the Storm’.
Front man Joacim cans talked about ‘Riders of the Storm’ in a prepared statement.
“This mid tempo, riff based song instantly became a live hit for both the band and the fans,” Cans said. “I just love it when the crowd starts to jump in the beginning when the beat kicks in! Even though the lyrical theme is a bit on the dystopian side there is a positive vibe and energy, with a feeling of hope, within the music. A feeling of hope that eventually also can be found in the lyrics.”
According to information provided in a news release announcing the video’s premiere, the visualization is not unintentional. The cells over which the lyrics are presented are taken directly from the Crimson Thunder comic book that comes with the re-issue’s vinyl release.
