Hyro The Hero Takes On Mental Health Struggles In New Single

May 5 — Hyro The Hero officially debuted the debut single from his forthcoming album this week.

Head Under Water (ft. Reddstar and Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills)‘ made its official premiere Friday, two weeks after the song’s lyric video premiered. The song’s musical arrangement is everything that audiences have come to expect from Hyro The Hero, with its nu-metal approach. The contrast of its contemplative verses and heavier choruses do well to help illustrate the mixed feelings that people feel as they battle depression.

According to Hyro The Hero, he hopes the song’s commentary will resonate with listeners.

“It was such an epic feeling to have the first single off my new album be ‘Head Under Water ft Reddstar and Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills,’” he said. “There’s such intense emotion we conveyed through this track that I hope listeners will be able to connect with it. It’s a deep dive into depression and the dark thoughts that arise when struggling with life’s problems. When you feel like you have nobody to talk to or that can understand, it can lead to terrible things. Mental health is no longer a taboo subject and it’s being brought up in discussion throughout society today, so I wanted to touch on it because I know the feeling first-hand.”

Hyro The Hero is working on his new album, which will be released through Better Noise Music. Its release date and other details are under consideration. While audiences wait for the album’s release, they can enter the Fan Love Sweepstakes fundraiser for a chance to spend the day with Hyro The Hero and get tickets for a future Hyro The Hero concert. The fundraiser will benefit Sweet Relief Musician’s Fund’s “Music Mental Health Fund.”
