On the evening of 5/7/2023, I had the pleasure of attending a concert featuring two exciting bands – Turnstile and Blink-182 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The venue was packed with fans eager to hear some of their favorite songs and experience the energy of the live performance. First up was Turnstile, a Maryland-based hardcore punk band known for their high-energy shows and unique blend of genres. They took the stage to a thunderous applause and launched into a set that was nothing short of electrifying. The band played a mix of songs from their latest album, Glow On, as well as some of their older material. Standout tracks included “Holiday,” “T.L.C.,” and “Blackout,” which had the crowd singing along and jumping to the beat. The band’s frontman, Brendan Yates, was a force to be reckoned with, bouncing around the stage and engaging the audience with his powerful vocals. After Turnstile finished their set, the crowd eagerly awaited the arrival of Blink-182. The iconic pop-punk band from California has been entertaining fans for over two decades and is known for their catchy hooks and infectious melodies. When the lights finally dimmed, the crowd erupted into cheers as Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Matt Skiba took the stage. They kicked off their set with “Anthem Part Two,” and the energy in the room skyrocketed. The band played hit after hit, including “All the Small Things,” “What’s My Age Again?” and “Dammit,” which had the entire crowd singing along. Blink-182’s performance was tight and polished, and the band’s chemistry was palpable. Hoppus and Skiba’s vocals complemented each other perfectly, and Barker’s drumming was nothing short of phenomenal. Overall, the concert was an unforgettable experience. Turnstile and Blink-182 are two very different bands, but they both share a common thread – their ability to put on an incredible live show. The energy in the room was electric, and the crowd was fully invested in every moment of the performance. If you ever have the chance to see either of these bands live, I highly recommend taking the opportunity – you won’t be disappointed!
