Lions At The Gate Announces New Album Details; Debuts Album’s Latest Single, Video; Announces New Live Dates

June 7 — Hard rock super group Lions at the Gate debuted its latest single and video this week.

The band premiered its latest single, ‘Drain‘ and the song’s companion video Wednesday. The song and its video are the sixth from the band’s forthcoming album, The Excuses We Cannot Make, which the band announced Wednesday, is scheduled for release Aug. 25.

The album’s track listing — complete with links to each of the album’s singles — is noted below:

THE EXCUSES WE CANNOT MAKE Track Listing

  2. The Climb
  3. Find My Way (ft. Tatiana Shmayluk)

The musical arrangement featured in Lions at the Gates’ new single is a rich melodic hard rock ballad whose contemplative verses and more powerful choruses make for a familiar style approach and sound. The overall presentation is easily comparable to works from the likes of The Veer Union, Sevendust and many other similar bands of that ilk.

According to front man Cristian Machado, the song’s lyrical theme is a contemplative statement that came from personal experiences.

“‘Drain’ is a song about regret and time,” Machado said. “There was a time in my life when I wished I could turn back the clock and take all the lessons I’ve learned with me. Many times I wondered if I’d made the right decisions in my own life. Years ago, I lost a family member whom I loved dearly with all my heart. We held her until the very last breath that she took. That was such a life-changing experience, it truly made me see things a lot differently.”

He continued, “Sadly, so many years I wasted leading up to that moment, thinking that time would never run out. The regret I felt was so intense, it opened my eyes wider than ever before and led my heart to change. I carry the memory daily, still. Thank God I am now, finally, realizing that perhaps I am not defined by the mistakes I’ve made, I am defined by the lessons I’ve learned in-house. I can apply them to my life now. In the end, it was worth it all.”

The video for the band’s new single features the band performing its new single in a church setting. Machado performs his part in the church’s confessional booth while the band performs collectively in the church’s sanctuary.
