The Anchoret Premieres Lyric Video For Its New Single, ‘Buried’

June 9 — Independent progressive metal act The Anchoret kicked off the weekend Friday with the debut of the lyric video for the third and final single from its forthcoming album, It All Began With Loneliness.

The debut of the lyric video for the new single, ‘Buried,’ came less than a month after the band premiered the record’s second single, ‘Until The Sun Illuminates‘. The band premiered the album’s lead single, ‘Forsaken‘ in April.

As with its predecessors, the musical arrangement featured in ‘Buried’ offers more variety from the band. Where ‘Forsaken is a heavy, driving composition and ‘Until The Sun Illuminates’ exhibits influences of Dream Theater, Fates Warning, and Leprous, ‘Buried’ is a much more subdued, contemplative composition. This is especially interesting considering the almost black metal style guitar riffs that work against the gritty vocals and rich rhythm section from the band. The bluesy leanings that bridge the verses and choruses add even more interest to the song’s arrangement, ensuring listeners’ engagement and entertainment even more.

Overall, the song’s arrangement makes itself comparable to some of the more “experimental” works that Slipknot has presented in its latest album, The End So Far. This is meant in the most complimentary fashion possible. It also continues to exhibit the musical variety that apparently makes up at least part of the band’s new album, which is scheduled for release June 23 through Willowtip Records.

The band had the following to say of the single’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement:

“There are moments in life when we look into the mirror and fail to recognize the reflection staring back at us,” the statement reads. “This song implores us to dig deeper within ourselves, remember our dreams and aspirations and rediscover self-love. We hope that this message of hope strikes a chord with you.”
