July 12 — Famed singer-songwriter Tom Waits’ Island Records catalog will get new life late this summer and this fall.
The albums — Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Franks Wild Years, Bone Machine, and The Black Rider — were released between over the course of a decade between 1983 and 1993. The first trio of records are scheduled for release Sept. 1 through Island/Universal Music Group, while the label is set to re-issue the other two albums Oct. 6.
According to information provided about the re-issues, Waits himself oversaw the records’ remastering for their re-issue alongside his longtime songwriting companion, Kathleen Brennan.
Each album will be available separately on CD and two vinyl pressings: a 180-gram black vinyl and a limited edition color color variant that will be available exclusively through Waits’ official webstore. Additionally, Swordfishtrombones will be pressed on canary. Rain Dogs‘ vinyl pressing will be opaque sky blue, and Franks Wild Years on opaque gold. The Black Rider‘s vinyl pressing will be opaque apple while Bone Machine will release on a translucent milk vinyl pressing. Pre-orders are open.
While audiences will have to wait a bit for the albums’ physical releases, they can stream all five albums now here.
