Sept. 8 — Hard rock band Unveil The Strength released its first new music in roughly a year ti open the weekend.
The band premiered its new single, ‘Foundations,’ Friday through Zoid/The Label Group/INgrooves. The song’s musical arrangement boasts much of the sound and style of band member Matt Snell’s former band, Five Finger Death Punch throughout its nearly three-and-a-half-minute run time. That is evidenced through its vocals and specific instrumentation. At the same time, there is a sharpness about the arrangement, a certain focus that also makes it comparable to works from the likes of Soilwork at times.
According to band member Mark Wolfe, the song’s lyrical theme is somewhat existential in nature.
“‘Foundations’ is about finding out who you are,” Wolfe said. “It’s easy to exist in comfort but how do you persevere when unexpected things happen to you? It’s about being pushed to the edge of your own existence and facing adversity. It’s taking those setbacks, learning from them, and using those lessons to build foundations. My favorite part of this song is the bridge with the kids choir. It’s actually my daughter singing with me about 20 times. It’s a memory I’ll cherish forever.”
