Oct. 3 — AXS TV is getting into the Halloween “spirit” with the return of its annual “Heavy Metal Halloween” programming.
As part of the programming, which also includes profiles of Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, and Ozzy Osbourne, the network will also air a documentary about the landmark metal compilation record, Metal Massacre titled Metal Massacre: The Story Behind The Legendary Album. The documentary is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. on Oct. 28.
Originally released in 1982 on vinyl, the collection helped launch the careers of the likes of Metallica and RATT while also serving as the foundation for the beginnings of Metal Blade Records. The documentary includes commentary from the likes of Metal Blade Records founder Brian Slagel, Metallica members James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, RATT front man Stephen Pearcy, and Black N’ Blue singer Jamie St. James.
Along with the noted documentary and profiles, AXS TV’s Hallowen programming list also includes Judas Priest’s 2015 Wacken performance, Battle Cry: Live at Wacken Festival 2015.
