Oct. 6 — Independent alt-rock band Whitehall unveiled its new standalone single, ‘Lost and Found‘ Friday, along with the song’s companion video.
The song’s premiere follows the band’s premiere of its then latest single, ‘Pull,‘ from tis new album, Maizy — and the song’s video last month. The musical arrangement exhibits a very subdued, contemplative mood in its simple approach of vocals, guitar and melodeon. The sound and style presented here is a distinct 90s emo-pop approach that is certain to appeal to fans of that genre.
The band talked about the song’s musical arrangement and its lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“‘Lost and Found’ is one of the more pensive songs we have ever written,” the statement reads. “We almost wanted it to sound like it has a little dust on it, and our first experiment with a melodeon (we think that’s what it’s called) serves to blow off some of that dust and bring the listener into the more upbeat outro feeling some mixture of warmth and unease all at once. It’s both about ego loss and the struggle to reparent yourself as a new stage of life approaches fast.”
The song’s lyric video features the song’s lyrics placed over some blurry home video footage as the song plays over the visualization.
In other news, Whitehall recently completed the first leg of its tour in support of Maizy. The band will launch the second leg of the tour, a headlining run, Oct. 26 in Boston, MA. Tickets for the tour are available here. The dates for the band’s headlining tour are noted below:
