Gears Debuts New Single, ‘My Curse,’ Companion Video

Nov. 17 — Gears gave audiences an early Christmas present over the weekend with the premiere of its latest single and the song’s companion video.

The band debuted its new single, ‘My Curse‘ and the song’s companion video Friday. The premiere of the new single and video came more than three months after the band unveiled its then latest single, ‘Thanks For The Misery‘ and the song’s companion video.

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s latest single is a heavy composition, driven largely by its crunching guitar riffs and much more melodic choruses. The contrast of those two styles in the verses sand choruses once again makes comparison to works from the likes of Sevendust so easy. At the same time, listeners can also argue there is influence from the likes of Skindred and P.O.D. throughout the song.

The song’s lyrical theme is an existential rumination of sorts, according to front man Tripp Sixx.

“Within each of us resides a curse, a dark passenger that we must bear,” he said. “It is the unyielding law of balance, a reminder of our imperfections. Yet, in its ominous presence lies the opportunity for growth and enlightenment. We must learn from this shadow, seek to understand its nature, and strive to tame its wild essence. For it is in this delicate dance with our inner demons that true wisdom and harmony shall be found.”

The video for ‘My Curse,’ was recorded in Medellin, Columbia. It features the band performing its new single among a group of break dancers in an unidentified region of the city as the song plays over the visualization.
