Dec. 6 — Dead By Wednesday has given audiences an early Christmas present in the form of its latest single, ‘ Wasteland‘ and the song’s companion video. The song and its video are the third from the band’s latest album, Capital Conspiracy. The album has also produced two other singles, the most recent being ‘Mars in Exile‘ and the other being ‘Here Comes The Dead.’ That song was released last year.

As with the album’s two other singles, the musical arrangement featured in this latest entry is a heavy, intense composition whose verses lend themselves to comparison to works from the likes of Dry Kill Logic. The guttural screams and chugging guitars work with the steady time keeping in the choruses meanwhile to create a sound and style somewhat similar to works from the likes of Whitechapel. The two leanings seem an odd balance but they work here.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the premiere of the new single and video. From what can be deciphered sans any explanation and any lyrics with the video, it seems that the song’s theme is the familiar topic of self-expression and identity, celebrating both topics.

The video for the new single was captured at the 2023 edition of the annual Wasteland Weekend festival. Held annually in the Mojave Desert since 2010 (except in 2020 when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the festival is a Mad Max style festival that was in fact inspired by the famed cult classic science fiction movie franchise.

In other news, Dead By Wednesday has scheduled a performance Jan. 13 at Toad’s Place in its hometown of New Haven, CT. The concert has been dubbed a “Now & Then” set and is part of a bigger event known as the “Opus'” Blizzard Bash” that will be split into two halves. The first half of the day-long event will feature the band’s current lineup while the second half will see the return of the band’s original two-man vocalist team of Ceschi and David Ramos, drummer Opus’ cousins.

Also on the bill for the annual event are the likes of Sepsiss, Living Wreckage, and Fractured Reality. More information on the concert and Dead By Wednesday’s new single and video is available along with all of the band’s latest news at:
