Nov 30 — Two months after premiering its then latest single, ‘Drop’ and the song’s video, veteran rock outfit Payable On Death (P.O.D.) has unveiled another new single and video.
The band recently debuted its new single, ‘Afraid To Die‘ and the song’s video. According to information provided in a recently released news release, the song, which features a guest vocal performance by Jinjer front woman Tatiana Shmayluk, came after the two bands toured together in late 2022.
The musical arrangement featured in ‘Afraid To Die’ is more along the lines of what audiences have come to expect from P.O.D. with its more melodic approach. ‘Drop’ by comparison — which features a guest appearance by Lamb of God front man Randy Blythe — is a far heavier composition; far heavier than much of what the band had crafted up to the point of its release.
Guitarist Marcos Curiel talked briefly about Shmayluk’s addition to the band’s new song in a prepared statement.
“Our dear friend Tatiana Shmayluk offers her unique approach and we had incredible musical chemistry with her,” Curiel said. “This is P.O.D. hitting the human core of our existence and dealing with love, fear, integrity, and most of all, family and friends. It’s ultimately an abundance of love and life.”
The new single’s video features the band and Shmayluk on what is meant to represent a post apocalyptic desert world, evading a bunch of unidentified forces as they perform the new single.
