Jan. 26 — Pop punk outfit Northpark unveiled its latest single over the weekend.
The band, which joined the Wiretap Records artist roster in September, kicked off the weekend with the debut of its new single, ‘Ink.’ The song’s musical arrangement is a mid-tempo composition whose production and general stylistic approach is familiar for any pop punk fan. That is because of the similarity that the style and sound are so much like those of so many other pop punk acts.
According to a statement from the band, the song’s lyrical theme is meant to deliver an uplifting message.
“‘Ink’ is about a protagonist taking a stand against an antagonist by pushing forward with their life and removing the emotional control the antagonist had over them,” the statement reads. “Cut deep with words but I got my pen” symbolizes the positive and powerful effects of expressing thoughts and feelings through music and writing. “I’ll spill the ink, I’ll cut you out, I’ll come to grips that you don’t hear a sound,” represents the inability the antagonist has to comprehend or take accountability for past situations resulting in the protagonist finally realizing this and deciding to cut emotional ties.”
