Jan. 25 — As the countdown to the release of his new album continues, Scott Stapp is continuing to build the excitement for the record.
Stapp unveiled the latest single from his forthcoming album, Higher Power, this week in the form of ‘Dead Man’s Trigger.’ The song’s premiere was accompanied by that of the the song’s lyric video.
‘Dead Man’s Trigger’ is just the latest single to spawn from Higher Power, which is scheduled for release March 15 through Napalm Records. The record has also produced the singles, ‘Black Butterfly,’ ‘What I Deserve, and the album’s title track/lead single.
The musical arrangement featured in Stapp’s latest single is very similar in its sound and style to so much material that he helped compose as a member of Creed. That is evidenced through the heavy, melodic guitar line paired with his own distinct vocal delivery style.
According to information provided in a news release announcing the debut of the new single and video, the lyrical theme featured in ‘Dead Man’s Trigger’ “warns of mutually assured destruction when pushed to the breaking point.”
The lyric video for the new single features the song’s lyrics presented — fittingly — in an old west style font against an old west backdrop as the song plays over the visualization.
In other news, Stapp recently announced a series of tour dates in support of Higher Power. The brief schedule is set to launch March 10 in Ponte Verda Beach, FL and to run through March 22 in Clear Lake, IA. The tour’s schedule is noted below:
