Feb. 9 — Rick Monroe and the Hitmen released a new love song of sorts just in time for Valentines Day.

The band unveiled its new single, ‘Worth The Hurt‘ Friday. The song’s premiere came less than three months after the release of the band’s then latest single, ‘Trouble‘ and its companion lyric video.

The musical arrangement featured in the group’s new single is a catchy outlaw country type composition. This is evidenced through the southern rock leanings that blend equal parts country and rock. At points, audiences can liken the composition to songs from the likes of Eric Church and at others to works from the likes of Chris Stapleton.

According to information provided in the news release announcing the premiere of the new single, the song’s lyrical theme touches on toxic relationships. More specifically, it states the song “is an antithetical Valentines Day song that highlights the addictive qualities and unhealthy co-dependance of a love gone wrong.”

‘Worth The Hurt’ is expected for inclusion in the band’s forthcoming album, Six Gun Soul. The record is scheduled for release April 12. The record has also produced the singles, ‘Looking,‘ World’s Gone Crazy‘ and ‘God’s Ear.’
