Feb. 28 — Fans of Accept got their first taste of the band’s new album this week.
The band unveiled the video for its new single, ‘Humanoid‘ Wednesday. Along with being the lead single from the band’s new album, the single is also the record’s title track. The video features the band performing its new single on a futuristically-dressed sound stage as the story of machines becoming increasingly human is told. Over the course of the nearly five-minute song, the band itself is gradually turned into a group of cyborg-type creations as they perform the new single.
The musical arrangement featured in the new single is everything fans of Accept have come to expect from the band. All of the fire and punch of its existing catalog is there. At the same time, the stylistic comparison to works from the likes of Judas Priest is just as evident even as the song maintains its own identity.
The song’s lyrical theme goes along with the record’s overarching conceptual approach, that of technology’s growth.
The band addressed the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“The song plays with the omnipresent topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI),” the statement reads. “In a strange way, we have entered exciting times now… This Digital Revolution has a huge impact, probably bigger than anything humankind has ever gone through. The Industrial Revolution was huge, but this might be even bigger, and we’re just at the beginning of it. However, I’m also a little afraid that humanity gets lost and pushed aside in all this stuff. The song is pretty impactful and provoking!”
Humanoid is scheduled for release Apr. 16 through Napalm Records. Pre-orders are open.
Founding member and guitarist Wolf Hoffman spoke briefly about the album in a prepared statement.
“I am extremely pleased with Humanoid,” Hoffman said. “The album has great energy throughout! Working with the best metal producer, Andy Sneap, was once again a lot of fun! We are a great team. We all love the new album and look forward to playing it live! Hope our fans will like it as much as we do.”
