March 21 — P.O.D. offered audiences yet another preview of its forthcoming album, Veritas, this week.
The preview came Thursday in the form of the video for the album’s latest single, ‘Lies We Tell Ourselves.’ The song is now the fourth single from the forthcoming album, which is scheduled for release May 3 through Mascot Records. The album has already produced the singles, ‘Drop,’ ‘Afraid To Die, and ‘I Won’t Bow Down.’
In comparison to those songs, the band’s latest single is easily the most radio ready single from the album so far. That is because it is not the heavy, intense material that those singles have proven to be. Rather, it is more of a contemplative, melodic rock composition that is an easy fit with so many mainstream rock radio programmers’ play lists.
Guitarist Marcos Curiel discussed the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“As hate is to love, death is to life, lies is to VERITAS (truth),” Curiel said. “This song resonates the struggle and hope which keeps us from truly believing that the ‘lies within ourselves’ become a reality. Our struggle. Our truth.”
The song’s video is almost as simple and accessible as the song’s musical arrangement. It features the band performing its new single in what looks like a rehearsal space as the song plays over the visualization. The video is presented in black and white.
In other news, P.O.D. recently announced a forthcoming tour alongside Bad Wolves, Norma Jean and Blind Channel in support of its new record. The tour’s schedule is noted below. Tickets are available here.
