March 1 — The Dollyrots offered audiences yet another taste of its new album, Night Owls, this week with the premiere of the video for its latest single.
The duo — vocalist/bassist Kelly Ogden and guitarist Luis Cabezas — premiered the lyric video for its new single, ‘Trees Sway‘ Friday. The song is now the ninth single to be released from the 13-song album behind ‘Can’t Tell You Why,’ ‘I Just Wanna Play Dead,’ ‘5+5,’ ‘Tonight With You,’ ‘Hot Mom With The Skinny Pants On,’ ‘Alligator,’ ‘When We’re Sober,‘ Hey Girl,’ and the album’s lead single/title track.
The lyric video features the song’s lyrics against the backdrop of forests and leas as the gentle melody plays and Ogden sings.
The song’s lyrical theme is something of an existential musing, interpreting comments Ogden made about the topic.
“Trees Sway” [is] about love, loss, and reincarnation,” Ogden said. “Things we believe in deep down and oftentimes find hard to articulate.”
In other news, The Dollyrots’ push to support its new album will continue this spring with a tour alongside Gymshorts. The tour is scheduled to launch March 7 in Cudahy, WI and to run through May 16 in Cleveland, OH. One more additional date May 4 in Tampa, FL is also scheduled.
