May 29 — Indie rock outfit Don’t Believe in Ghosts premiered its latest single this month, along with the song’s companion video.
The band unveiled its new single, ‘Drowning‘ May 21. The song present an infectious, poppy musical arrangement that throws back to some of the R&B influences of the 1970s while adding some modern club elements for a whole that is unique in its own right. It lends itself to comparison to works from the likes of Fitz & The Tantrums
According to information presented in a news release announcing the new single’s premiere, the song’s lyrical theme focuses on people’s struggles to balance their personal lives everything else going on around them.
Vocalist Steven Nathan discussed the song’s lyrical theme at more length.
“Sometimes the distractions are louder than the internal message and sometimes our passions are muted by the barrage of noise being thrown at us daily,” Nathan said.
The noted news release adds the new single is expected to be included in the band’s as yet untitled next album.
