The Dead Daisies Debuts New Album’s Lead Single, Video

May 9 — Fans of The Dead Daisies got their first preview of the band’s new album this week.

The band debuted the song, ‘Light ‘Em Up‘ and the song’s companion video Friday. The song is the title track from the band’s forthcoming record, which is scheduled for release Sept. 6 through SPV Germany globally and through Ward Records in Japan.

The album is a reunion for the band with a pair of former members, vocalist John Corabi (who was temporarily released by Glenn Hughes on the band’s 2022 album Radiance) and drummer Tommy Clufetos, who, like fellow drummer Brian Tichy, has had multiple stints with the band. The single is the band’s first work with Corabi since 2018.

The song’s musical arrangement is a familiar style composition, its straight forward approach coming very easily comparable to AC/DC’s own hit single, ‘Givin’ The Dog A Bone.’ Whether this is intentional is anyone’s guess, but the comparison is inescapable.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the premiere of the new single and its video. Lyrics were not provided with the song’s video, either, leaving for plenty of room for intepretation.

Speaking of the song’s video, it is an animated presentation of sorts. It features video of Corabi and guitarist Doug Aldrich performing their respective parts to the song. Meanwhile imagery of war and destruction play out at random points throughout the video, leaving more room for interpretation.

In other news, The Dead Daisies recently also announced plans to launch a tour in support of Light ‘Em Up. The tour is scheduled to start June 8 in New York, NY and to run through Jun 22 in Roseville, CA. It includes scheduled stops in cities, such as Columbus, OH; Nashville, TN and Los Angeles, CA.
