June 19 — This summer, Michael Schenker will revisit a number of classic UFO songs that he helped compose in a new compilation record.
My Years With UFO is scheduled for release Sept. 20 through earMusic. The 11-song collection revisits songs that he composed as a member of UFO during the brief 6-year span of 1972-1978. The songs featured in the forthcoming record are re-worked renditions of those songs featuring guest appearances from a who’s who of rock, such as Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo, Black Country Communion, ex-Dream Theater), Biff Byford (Saxon), Stephen Pearcy (Ratt).
In anticipation of the collection’s release, Schenker unveiled a re-worked rendition of ‘Mother Mary‘ Wednesday. The song features a guest appearance by another legend, Slash (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, Slash ft. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators) and Erik Gronwall (ex-Skid Row). Gronwall’s rich vocals pair well with Slash’s blues-rock riffs in the song to make for so much enjoyment. The song’s production also makes the drums rich in their own right with just enough punch and airy sound to make the whole even more engaging and entertaining.
