Creed starts off their Summer Of ’99 tour in Green Bay, WI
Creed is back and quite possibly bigger and better than ever. The band took to the stage at the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI on a Wednesday night to kick off the first show of their first tour in 12 years, the Summer Of ’99 tour. In front of a sold out venue, Creed started there set with their heavy hitting song “Bullets”, which was a great start, all along with flames shooting up into the air and amazing lighting, with large video screens at the back of the stage.
The evening started out with openers Finger Eleven and Switchfoot, who both had great sets. Finger Eleven played hits such as “One Thing” and “Paralyzer”. The stand out from their set definitely had to be watching the stage antics of guitarist Rick Jackett. He had his guitar flying all around him most the show, and was still able to play the guitar parts. Switchfoot had a great set with many fan favorites such as “Meant To Live”, “Dare You To Move”, and “This Is Your Life” (in which Jon Foreman also sang Happy Birthday to a fan in the crowd during). Switchfoot is an amazing band that really complemented Creed very well.
Back to the headliner Creed, the fans were so pumped up for seeing these guys live, the cheers just filled the arena when the band took the stage. I think there is a lot of excitement for Creed being back together. This was the bands first show of the tour, but they did have the Creed Summer Of ’99 Cruise earlier in the year. Just seeing these guys up on stage together again after all these years was really an amazing experience. Creed was a major band in the late 90’s to the late 2000’s, with many huge hits. I seen many younger people in the crowd which makes me think Creed is being found by younger generations now. A long with all the older fans Creed could be on the verge of becoming more popular than ever. I’m hoping this reunion also means that there will soon be a new album release coming. If they can match the same level as their first three albums, I think they could really just explode in the music scene again!
Creed brought such an amazing production for this tour, the lighting is just so bright and the setup of the lights makes the whole stage look great. Add in the pyro and Co2 along with large video screens playing closeups of the band and other scenes, and it creates such awesome visuals. Creed looked great and sounded great, everything was spot on. I could tell they were just as happy and excited to be up there on stage as the fans were to see them. They definitely put together an amazing setlist. Everything from power charged hits to the ballads. Scott Stapp had some great inspirational messages between some songs also. Before the band played their hit “Higher” Scott Stapp announced they would be giving away one of Mark Tremonti’s guitars to the loudest and wildest fan during the song. The lucky fan that the guitar was given to after “Higher” was totally ecstatic as Mark Tremonti handed it to him.
Creed’s set was a total of sixteen songs songs including a two song encore, which was “One Last Breath” and “My Sacrifice”. See whole set list below. All in all I think this is one of the best concerts I have seen in a long time. Leaves me wishing I could see it again, but they are far from here now. Also leaves me in hopes of new music and seeing Creed just become bigger than ever. Creed was always an amazing and extremely successful band, it just feels like they totally belong right now.
