July 23 — Jason Charles Miller unveiled his new album’s latest single and video over the weekend.
Miller debuted the single, ‘Digging in the Dust‘ and its companion lyric video Friday. The song is the first official preview of the album that Miller has provided fans so far.
Knives in the Dark is scheduled for release Aug. 16 through his new label home, One Opportunity Records. Miller announced his signing to the label early this month. The new single is a southern rock style composition that is easily comparable to works from the likes of John Mellencamp and Tom Petty all in one.
Miller talked about the song’s all too familiar lyrical theme in a prepared statement.
“Timing in relationships is everything. ‘Digging in the Dust’ is about a romance that’s long-since ended, but neither side wants to admit it,” said Miller of the inspiration behind his new single. “We’ve all seen that from afar, but the main character is just figuring out it’s happening to them. The inevitability of the situation is slowly being revealed, and this song is the realization of that moment, and the futility of any future together.”
The song’s lyric video is a simple presentation. It features the song’s lyrics against the backdrop of the cover art for Miller’s new album as the song plays over the visualization.
In other news, Miller is scheduled to join Steel Panther on the road this summer in support of his new album, starting Aug. 23 in Buffalo, NY. The tour is scheduled to run through Sept. 14 in Jacksonville, NC. Following that run, Miller has select dates in South Korea and Japan scheduled, as well as a performance Dec. 14 in Los Angeles, CA.
