Arch Enemy Debuts New Single, ‘Dream Stealer,’ Video

July 30 — Arch Enemy returned with its first new music in almost two years this week.

The band premiered its new single, ‘Dream Stealer,’ and the song’s companion video Wednesday. The single is the band’s first new music since the release of its album, Deceivers in 2022.

The musical arrangement featured in the band’s new single is a fully immersive composition, opening with a rich organ line before launching into the band’s familiar intense thrash leanings throughout the rest of the song. Even the choruses, which are slightly melodic, present a full-on intensity.

No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the debut of the new single and video. The lyrics provided with the video hints at being centered on a certain negative force or energy that tries to emotionally and psychologically harm us. To an extent, one could argue that the song is a mental health statement of sorts, keeping this in mind. This is just this critic’s interpretation.

The song’s video features the band performing its new single on a sound stage whose screen is meant to look like various dark backgrounds. From a dark cave to a graveyard and more, the settings change throughout the video. There is at least one controversial image presented in the video, that being a burning church, that is sure to get some viewers’ attention.
