Nov. 22– Singer-songwriter Andy Stochansky (Ani Difranco, Goo Goo Dolls, Dragonette) will release his new album, Poetry of Birds this winter.
In anticipation of the the album’s release, the acclaimed artist and producer unveiled the album’s title track early this week and followed its debut with the unveiling of the song’s companion video Friday.
The song’s musical arrangement starts off somewhat melancholy with the simplicity of Stochansky’s vocals and performance on piano. It is a somewhat somber approach and sound but eventually picks up the pace later in the song despite still having something of an emo type of approach.
This unique musical approach is actually somewhat contrary to the song’s lyrical theme, which Stochansky discussed in a prepared statement.
“That song is almost a ‘thank you’ to the people who taught you respect for life, nature, and other people,” Stochansky said. “It could be a grandparent, parent, friend, or anyone.”
The song’s video is a simple presentation. It features birds flying slowly in the sky over a house as the song plays over the visualization.
