Julien-K Announces New Member, Music, Tour News

Nov. 27 — New is the word of the day for Julien-K.

The band announced Wednesday through a news release, it has named drummer Galen Waling has been made an official member of the band. Along with Julien-K, Waling is also known for his work with the likes of Lords of Acid (who this week announced a new vocalist for its lineup), PIG, and Left Spine Down.

Founding member Ryan Shuck addressed the new appointment in a prepared statement.

“We work with so many creatives in our Julien-K extended family, we had always thought of the band as much bigger than just Amir, Fu, and I,” said Shuck. “It’s normal for us to work with different players, writers, producers in the course of doing what we do – and that won’t change. But as the band has become such a regular touring entity, Galen just fit so solidly into our live world that we started asking him to join us in the studio as well. It just seemed natural to make him an official band member.”

Along with naming Waling its newest official member, the band also announced initial touring plans for 2025. The band’s tour plans include the “Colder Than Hell Tour,” which also includes Powerman 5000, Priest, and Vampires Everywhere. The tour is scheduled to launch Jan. 8 in Hollywood, CA and to run through Jan. 25 in Las Vegas, NV. It also includes stops in cities, such as Oklahoma City, OK, Des Moines, IA and Mesa, AZ.

Before the tour launches, the band also plans to announce its new single, ‘Static Whispers.’ Its debut is planned for Dec. 13. The debut is set to coincide with the band’s last performance of 2024 at the famed Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood, CA.

Early this year, Julien-K announced an indiegogo campaign to help fund the creation of its next project, its planned DRK|MODE music collection. The campaign’s initial goal was $10,000 The now closed campaign far exceeded that amount, raising more than $40,000.

The band first made mention of the project last May when it debuted its then latest single, ‘Your Tears Mean Nothing‘ and the song’s companion video. The song was, at the time, said to be expected for inclusion in the project.
