Nov. 13 — More than a year after releasing the complete Toxic Avenger movie series, Troma Entertainment will release its kid-friendly companion television series, The Toxic Crusaders.
Toxic Crusaders: The Series is scheduled for release Dec. 10 on Blu-ray through Troma Entertainment. Originally airing for 13 seasons in 1991 on Fox Kids, the series followed Toxie (Roger Bumpass — Spongebob Squarepants) as he leads a group of teenagers in their fight against a series of villains bent on polluting the town of Tromaville, New Jersey.
Toxic Crusaders was one of a handful of ecologically-minded series that aired in the early 1990s. Other like-minded series included in the likes of Captain Planet and the Planeteers and Swamp Thing. Additionally it was one of a number of kid-friendly series spawned from R-rated movie franchise, such as Rambo and Robocop. The series is also streaming free online through Tubi.
Troma Entertainment released the complete Toxic Avenger movie series in October 2023 in the form of The Toxic Avenger Collection, an 8-disc 4K/Blu-ray collection.
