Dec. 13 — Punk outfit Bridge The Gap announced Friday, it will release its latest album, Gainsayer in the new year.
The album is expected for release in spring 2025 with an exact release date being considered. It will release through Double Helix Records/SBAM Records/Pee Records. In anticipation of the album’s release the band unveiled the record’s lead single, ‘In The Throes‘ and the song’s companion video Friday.
The song’s musical arrangement is a work that will engage a wide range of audiences. To a point, the song presents a slight pop punk vibe akin to works from the likes of Simple Plan. The choruses present a subtle Pennywise comparison, too. At the same time there is something of a melodic rock style and sound blended in. The whole makes for a unique composition and first impression for the band’s forthcoming record.
In regard to the song’s lyrical theme, the band said in a prepared statement, it takes on the all too familiar topic of mental health.
“‘In The Throes’ deals with the topic of battling inner demons and searching deep to find the resolve to overcome them,” the statement reads in part. “Hopefully, the song is relatable and inspires some hope, not only that there are literally millions of people going through such struggles but also that there might be a way through without succumbing to the worst of it.”
The song’s video is a familiar style presentation. It features live footage of the band from over the years.
The band addressed the video in its statement, too.
“In the video, we’re not depicted with our figurative knives out, battling demons,” the band noted. “Rather, the “In The Throes” video was meant to show our fans that we’ve been ‘in the throes’ of making this music together for decades now, working out our artistic impulses and creativity dating back to the late ‘90s. It’s a kind of then-and-now showcase of where we started as a band and where we are today.”
