Jan. 24 — Singer-songwriter Andy Stochansky (Ani Difranco, Goo Goo Dolls, Dragonette) offered audiences another preview of his forthcoming album this week.
Stochansky opened the weekend with the debut of his new single, ‘Oxygen,’ and the song’s companion video Friday. The premiere came more than a month after he premiered the title track from his forthcoming album, Poetry of Birds.
The musical arrangement featured in Stochansky’s new single is a decidedly college-indie rock type composition. It is starkly unlike its predecessor, which is much more contemplative in its approach.
According to a statement from Stochansky, the song’s lyrical theme centers on being there for others.
“I wrote that song about a friend who went through a really bad divorce,” Stochansky said. “I wasn’t around him in Toronto, so all I could do was check up on him through FaceTime and just hear him out. It’s just about helping somebody else.”
The video for Stochansky’s new single is a simple presentation. It features Stochansky performing his new single in a single room as the song plays over the visualization.
