Fox Kids’ classic short-lived action series VR Troopers is getting new life on the printed page.
The series, which aired from 1994-1996, and aimed to take advantage of the success of another Saban series, the much more well-known Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, is set to launch in June through Boom! Studios. The forthcoming six-issue series’ exact launch date is under consideration and pre-orders are open.
The new announcement follows the recent announcement of a crossover comics event that sees the current Power Rangers lineup in Power Rangers Prime facing off against the VR Troopers, this also through Boom! Studios. In the canon of the new print series, the VR Troopers are elite Eltarian warriors, a divergence from the back story of the television series that inspired this series. For those more (and less) familiar with the Eltarians, they play a direct role in the Power Rangers comics universe, as the Rangers’ mentor, Zordon was Eltarian, as was none other than the evil Lord Zedd, thus tying the two worlds together.
