Alien Weaponry will drop its latest album, Te Ra Friday.
In anticipation of the album’s release, the band unveiled the record’s third single, ‘Taniwha‘ Wednesday. The song, which features a guest vocal performance from Lamb of God front man Randy Blythe, is another departure for Alien Weaponry from the sound that dominated its debut album, Ta. This song is an intense composition that has elements of hardcore and thrash balanced for a whole that is the most unique offering from Te Ra so far. Blythe’s own unique vocal style adds even more to that sense.
Alien Weaponry spoke warmly in a collective statement about Lamb of God’s influence on its own music as it addressed Blythe’s inclusion in its latest single.
“Lamb of God played a significant role in making Alien Weaponry what it is today and this collaboration with Randy Blythe feels like one of those ‘pinch yourself’ moments that our teenage selves would never believe possible,” the statement reads. “Randy’s lyricism and vocal expertise was an amazing addition to this song and we are beyond stoked to share this song/milestone with the world.”
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the press release announcing the debut of the new single. From what can be understood from the intense composition, it comes across as another familiar sociopolitical commentary from the band.
‘Taniwha’ was preceded by the debut of two other singles from Te Ra: ‘1,000 Friends,’ which centers on the evils of social media, and ‘Mau Moko.’
