‘One Path Vol. 1’ Is An Intriguing Start To One Of 2025’s Most Unique Comics Titles

April 01, 2025

It’s finally beginning to look a lot like spring.  Pine pollen is everywhere turning everything a blend of yellow and green.  Temperatures are finally starting to rise, and trees and other plant life is finally blooming again.  That also means that already the first quarter of the year is almost over.  Yes, it’s hard to believe but it is true.  With April officially here, many companies are looking to really get things moving, including comics publishers, such as Mad Cave Studios.  Mad Cave Studios’ release schedule is packed, proving that note.  Planned for release this month are new issues of series, such as Flash GordonDick Tracy, and Defenders of the Earth.  The company’s new science fiction/horror series, Dark Pyramid continues with its second issue, too, while another new title, One Path makes its debut.  That series is set to premiere next Wednesday, Apr. 9.

The 202-page book is the most intriguing presentation that Mad Cave Studios has offered audiences to date.  That is due in large part to its story.  The story’s pacing ties directly into its presentation, as does its artwork, which is unlike anything from any title that Mad Cave Studios has released to date.  Each item noted is key in its own way to the whole of One Path.  All things considered they make One Path Volume 1 a presentation that deems worth reading at least once, though only by adult audiences.

One Path Volume 1, the debut presentation for this new title from Mad Cave Studios, is quite the intriguing introduction to this series.  That is due in part to its featured story.  Written by Greg Broadmore, the story follows a tribe of prehistoric women as they navigate the dangers of their wild realm.  The dangers come from within (apparently these women have some cannibalistic nature, if Broadmore’s writing is to be believed) and without in the form of dinosaurs who would rather have them for their own meals.  For all of the traditions that the women have, there is one member of the tribe, One Path, who defies those old ways.  This becomes especially clear in the story’s final act, when she takes in a young baby boy.  One Path’s fellow tribe members call him a demon because they had never seen a male baby, only female.  On a side note, the explanation of how the babies are born considering there are no men is explained and it plays directly into that bigger story of One Path’s own path, too.  Considering the discussions that Broadmore raises through the story – those of family and challenging traditions – they make for just as much interest as the action that Broadmore incorporates into the story.

Staying somewhat on the topic of the story, its pacing is solid, keeping the story moving relatively quickly.  That is because the dialogue is kept to a minimum.  Broadmore instead opts to let the action tell the majority of the story.  That minimalist approach makes reading this story all the easier.  On that note, it should be pointed out that much of the action involves quite a bit of blood and gore as dinosaurs eat members of the tribe and the tribe members attack the dinosaurs, which ties into one more key item to address, the presentation’s artwork.

Along with writing the story of One Path, Broadmore also developed the artwork for this offering.  His work is, as previously noted, unlike anything in any of the titles that Mad Cave Studios has released to this day.  So much of the artwork featured throughout the story looks partially like watercolor paintings at points, while at others, it is more finely painted.  The “wide shots” present lush, beautiful mountainous scenes while the more action-packed scenes are just as rich in their gory detail.  It should be noted that because of the level of gore (and the nudity of the female tribe from beginning to end) reader discretion is advised.  In other words, this is not a presentation for younger readers.  All things considered, the artwork featured throughout One Path Volume 1 makes for just as much interest as the book’s story and the pacing connected thereto.  When it is considered alongside the story and its pacing, the whole of that collective content makes One Path Volume 1 the single most unique offering from Mad Cave Studios so far this year.

One Path Volume 1, the forthcoming new comics title from Mad Cave Studios, is a presentation unlike anything that the publisher has released to date and that most comics publishers have released for that matter.  The presentation stands out in part due to its story, which centers on a group of prehistoric women who are battling to survive in a dinosaur-ridden world.  Their traditions are eventually battled by one of their own, though, leading to even more chaos as the story nears its end.  The group’s interactions, trials and tribulations are something that few if any other comics publishers can say has been presented in their various titles.  The story’s pacing adds to its interest.  That is because of how fluidly the story moves thanks to the pacing.  It makes it that much easier for audiences to want to keep reading.  The artwork featured throughout the book puts the finishing touch to the presentation.  It is also unlike anything from titles of Mad Cave Studios and other comics publishers, making this title stand out even more.  Each item examined is important in its own way to the whole of the book.  All things considered they make One Path Volume 1 a presentation worth reading at least once.

One Path Volume 1 is scheduled for release Apr. 8.  More information on this and other titles from Mad Cave Studios is available at:
