Fans of the classic animated series, Biker Mice From Mars got their first look at the series’ forthcoming comics adaptation this week.

Oni Press premiered the first handful of pages from Bike Mice From Mars #1 Wednesday. In the debut issue of this brand-new series, audiences will get the story of how the trio (Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo) came to earth after a war on Mars that was started by the Plutarkians.

Editor Kyle Bollers addressed the new series’ launch in a prepared statement last month:
“We’re playing it a hundred percent straight, no winking at the audience–definitely not your typical ‘funny animal comic,’” said Bollers. “And while there are enough ‘cowabunga’ and ‘boo ya’ style catch phrases to fill the fuel tanks of fans new and old, overall we’re taking a hard-hitting approach to the stories this time that definitely won’t pull any punches and will hopefully appeal to readers of all ages. Two-wheel drive–four quadrant appeal. That’s the Biker Mice formula.”

Working on the brand-new series are writer Melissa Flores (Power Rangers Prime), and illustrator Daniel Gete (Skin Police).
The original Biker Mice From Mars cartoon series ran for three seasons in syndication between 1993-1996 and was a product of Marvel Productions. the new comics series is set to debut June 25.
