The Flower Kings offered audiences a new preview of its forthcoming album this week.
The preview came Wednesday in the form of the new single, ‘Burning Both Edges.’ The song is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album, Love, which is scheduled for release May 2 via InsideOut Music. The band released the album’s lead single, How Can You Leave Us Now!? last month.
The musical arrangement featured in the new single is a unique presentation. It pairs the band’s familiar progressive roots (and obvious Pink Floyd influence) with a subtle R&B lean. The whole makes the song a work that is certain to keep listeners engaged and entertained in its own right.
According to founding member Roine Stolt, the song’s lyrical theme is a sociopolitical commentary.
“’Burning Both Edges’ is another song from our album LOVE; We live in troubled times where stupidity and fear always seem to push us to yet another conflict, another war,” said Stolt. “LOVE could change everything, but we chose to burn the house down time after time. The world is indeed burning in so many ways – east, west, high, low and yet we choose to follow leaders that are not fit to lead. This song is a piece in the puzzle, meant to be heard in a sequence and context that is our new album song-cycle. LOVE.
