Only days after premiering its new single, ‘Car Song‘ and its companion lyric video the band has unveiled the song’s official video.

The band premiered the video Thursday, roughly a week after the premiere of the single and lyric video. The song’s video was inspired by the hit television series, Breaking Bad. It opens with front man Kristopher Roe arriving at an airBnB owned by the family of none other than Breaking Bad‘s main protagonist, Walter White. He finds a car there and decides to take the car for a ride.

There is a traffic stop, some questionable substances in the car and a Walter White lookalike all involved in the video as the song plays over the visualization.

Said Roe of the shoot, “We had a great time filming the video for ‘Car Song.’” “It was a really fun day with old friends and lots of great memories were made.”

‘Car Song’ is featured in The Ataris’ forthcoming as yet untitled album whose release date and other information is under consideration. Upon its release, the album will be the band’s first in 15 years.

The new single boasts a musical arrangement that takes audiences back to the infectious alt-rock sounds and styles of the 90s from the likes of Gin Blossoms and others of that ilk. According to information provided, fittingly, the song was recorded using analog technology rather than the digital technology of the 21st century.

Roe talked recently about the song’s lyrical inspiration.

“I’ve always been so lucky to have my dad’s unwavering support for The Ataris,” Roe said. “He wasn’t just a fan—he was a fixture of our community. He would often interact with fans on the band’s message board, film live sets, and share them with everyone—everyone knew him. He was a huge part of the band’s journey.”

Roe’s father passed in 2014 due to complications from alcoholismm according to the provided news release announcing the new single’s premiere. In tribute to his father, Roe stated the 7-inch vinyl pressings of the new single will each contain some of his father’s ashes.

Roe talked about the tribute in his comments.

“When I read about a service that would press a loved one’s ashes into vinyl, it instantly hit me,” said Roe. “What better way to honor my dad than making him a permanent part of the music he always loved? It felt like the most meaningful tribute I could give him. For anyone who knew my dad, they’d agree this would be the most fitting tribute for him.”

Additionally, a portion of proceeds from the single’s sales will go to benefit the nonprofit agency, Shatterproof. The Norwalk, CT-based agency works to help its patients battle substance abuse, including alcoholism.

Audiences can order the vinyl here.
