Glenn Hughes To Celebrate Deep Purple Album’s 50th Anniversary With Upcoming Tour

Aug. 3 — Glenn Hughes, who is most well known for his work with Deep Purple in the mid-1970s, will celebrate some of the band’s work on stage this summer.

Hughes announced Thursday, he will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Deep Purple’s 1974 album, Burn, with live performances of the record’s songs later this month and next month. Fellow famed musician Yngwie Malmsteen will also part of the upcoming tour, which is scheduled to launch Aug. 16 in Vineland, NJ and to run through Sept. 23 in Clearwater, FL.

Burn was one of three albums that Hughes recorded as a member of Deep Purple. He was also part of the sessions for the record’s follow-up, Stormbringer (which was released the same year), and that record’s follow-up Come Taste The Band (1975). Burn reached #9 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and #3 in the United Kingdom. It reached #1 in Austria, Denamrk, Germany and Norway.

The dates for Hughes’ upcoming tour are noted below:
