Sept. 7 — Veteran rock band Tesla debuted the video this week, for its cover of a classic Aerosmith song.
The band premiered the video for its in-studio take of Aerosmith’s classic 1975 hit single, ‘S.O.S. (Too Bad)’ Thursday. The band’s take on the song stays quite true to its source material. At the same time, there is a certain sense, thanks to the production, that gives the song something of a garage rock leaning at the same time. The whole makes the band’s take of Aerosmith’s classic song just as enjoyable as the original if not better.
Guitarist and founding member Frank Hannon talked about Aerosmith’s role in his own development as a musician in a prepared statement:
“As a young guitarist in 1978, I studied Aerosmith’s “Live Bootleg!” album, learning all the raw guitar licks they played live,” Hannon said. “When it came time to pick a song to top off TESLA’s new live album.. we chose a classic riff rocker from that legendary live album to pay tribute to AEROSMITH and the raw realness of such a great guitar riff!”
The debut of the new in-studio take of Aerosmith’s song is just the latest from the band. The band also performed the song during its performance at the 2022 Sturgis Bike Rally. Held at the Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, SD, the performance was part of Tesla’s “Let’s Get Real Tour.” The concert in question was released this summer on CD in the form of the simply titled Full Throttle Live.
In other news, Tesla is scheduled to host a residency at the House of Blues in Las Vegas later this month. The residency’s dates are noted below:
