Sept. 11 — Veteran prog-rock band The Flower Kings released its latest album, Look At You Now Friday.

The band’s 16th album, it was released through InsideOut Music. As an added celebration, the band premiered the video for the album’s latest single, ‘Mother Earth’ Monday. The video features the band performing its new single on a series of television monitors set amidst various settings of the world, including flooded oil fields, nature scenes, and cityscapes.

The visuals featured in the video are meant to illustrate the song’s environmentally-minded lyrical message, which guitarist Roine Stolt discussed in a prepared statement:

“‘Mother Earth’ is the 3rd ’single’ from our new album; a song written by our bass man Michael Stolt – with help from Jannica Lund,” Stolt said. “A song looking at our environmental crises – at a time when we see them unfolding with terrifying precision – while our leaders seem to be ignoring much of the urgency of these matters. The “looking at us NOW” – is real – we’re nearing the eye of the storm and yet profit goes before concern about our wounded planet. A time for healing is imminent. So, enjoy our new single boys and girls – this track is a free agent but also a part of our new concept piece.”

The musical arrangement featured in ‘Mother Earth’ is everything that audiences have come to expect from the band. The sound is that familiar vintage prog rock sound that Roine Stolt has also helped craft for songs with one of his side projects, Transatlantic.

The Flower Kings released Look At You Now‘s most recent single in August in the form of ‘The Dream.’ Its premiere was preceded by that of the album’s lead single, ‘Beginner’s Eyes.’
