Nov. 15 — Molly Hatchet released its latest single and video this week

The band debuted its new single, ‘Firing Line‘ Wednesday, along with the song’s companion lyric video. The song is the band’s first new material in 13 years, according to information in a news release distributed Tuesday.

Produced by the band’s own Bobby Ingram at the famed Abbey Road Studios, the song’s opening bars are an interesting counter to the rest of the song’s body. That is because the arrangement’s opening bars come across in an almost power metal style (which is also audible in the song’s choruses) while the verses are more of the band’s familiar southern rock fare.

According to Ingram, the song’s lyrical theme is a statement abotu doing what is right in life.

“Throughout history, humanity has fought to stand up for what is right and defend the wrongfully accused,” Ingram said. “‘Firing Line’ depicts standing up for yourself on that fine line between the truth and being falsely accused by the system, and by doing so, standing up for yourself to protect your integrity and fight for what is right.”

The lyric video illustrates that message by showing knights of days far gone battling as the song’s lyrics play over the visual and the song’s arrangement plays over all of that content.
