Jan. 12 — Independent rock band Messer kicked off the weekend with the premiere of its latest single and video.
The band unveiled its new single, ‘One More Time‘ Friday, along with the song’s companion video. The premiere of the song and its video came less than two months after the band debuted its then latest single, ‘Lay Down Your Heart‘ and the song’s companion video.
The musical arrangement featured in Messer’s new single is a melodic rock ballad that throws back to the alt-rock sounds of the mid- and late 1990s. The soaring instrumentation and vocals conjure thoughts of similar style compositions from the likes of Three Doors Down, Goo Goo Dolls, and even Collective Soul.
Bassist Maddox Messer talked about the song’s lyrical theme in a prepared statement:
“’One more Time’ was written about relationships that had regrettably moved on,” Messer said. “Personally, we felt that it was about trying to fix things too late. As the years went by we realized it had so much more meaning. Dealing with our own personal losses, wishing to see loved ones again, and wanting to be the person that they could rely on. One more time hits a heavy note of regret and longing for a second Chance to change things for the better.. Realizing the importance of fixing things now instead of putting them off.”
The song’s companion video is a simple presentation. It features front man Dereak Messer walking down an empty road, under blue skies, singing his part to the song as the new single plays over the visualization.
‘One More Time’ is featured in the upcoming re-issue of Messer’s self-titled album, which is scheduled for release March 15.
