Jan. 12 — Independent pop rock duo Brian K and The Parkway is scheduled to release its debut album, Killing The Bear this spring.
The album is scheduled for release March 29. In anticipation of the album’s release, the duo — Brian K. Pagels and Stephen Russ — unveiled its lead single, ‘Wind The Clock‘ Friday. The song, which barely tops the four-minute mark, is a light, infectious composition. The steady bass line and disco-esque 2/4 time keeping on the drums form the foundation of the arrangement. The vocals and guitar build on that foundation, blending vintage pop and disco influence with more modern pop leaning for a unique whole that is certain to keep listeners engaged and entertained.
According to comments from Pagels, the song’s lyrical theme is a social commentary of sorts.
“I wanted it to be an anthem for ‘my people,’ those who value peacebuilding, justice, equality, democracy, and universal human rights,” Pagels said.
In related news, Brian K and the Parkway has also announced an early tour schedule in support of its new album. The tour is scheduled to launch March 29 in Vienna, VA and to run through May 5 in Brooklyn, NY. The tour also features stops in cities, such as Durham, NC; Columbia, SC and Boston, MA.
