Feb. 2 — Ace Frehley kicked off the weekend with the premiere of a new single.
The famed former KISS guitarist debuted his new single, ‘Walkin’ On The Moon‘ and its companion video Friday. The single is featured in Frehley’s forthcoming album, 10,000 Volts, which is scheduled for release Feb. 23 through MNRK Heavy. The song is the second from the album, behind the record’s title track.
Unlike its predecessor, Frehley’s new single is more of a melodic guitar rock song whereas ‘10,000 Volts’ is more of a straight forward, driving rock arrangement. ’Walkin’ On The Moon’ is also more laid back and relaxed in its approach, which is certain to add to listeners’ engagement and entertainment. The whole is a work that fits just as well alongside today’s guitar rock opuses as the compositions that made rocks’ golden age so great.
Lyrically speaking, ‘Walkin’ On The Moon’ is actually much closer to ‘10,000 Volts’ as it centers on a woman. Where the album’s title track found its subject looking for a woman, this song finds its subject with that woman and so happy and relaxed. He sings of the positive impact that the woman has on him.
The video for Frehley’s new single features him performing on a sound stage with a green screen. The green screen presents what is meant to be the moon. The whole thing ends with a surprise that audiences will be left to discover for themselves.
In related news, Frehley will take part in a meet-and-greet with fans Feb. 24 — the day after his new album’s release — from 3 – 5 p.m. at Sam Ash on 333 West 34th St. in New York City to sign copies of his album and celebrate its release. Fans can order an in-store viny pressing of the album to get priority access to the event here. The standard CD pressing will also be available to buy in store.
