June 11 — Myles Kennedy is gearing up to release his latest solo album.
The Alter Bridge front man is scheduled to release his third solo album, The Art of Letting Go, Oct. 11 via Napalm Records. Pre-orders are open. The record will come more than three years after the release of his then latest album, The Ides of March. That album, released in May 2021, also through Napalm Records.
In anticipation of the album’s release, Kennedy debuted the video for the 10-song record’s lead single, ‘Say What You Will,’ Monday. The video tells the story of a young middle school girl who is bullied but who breaks out when she joins forces with the her teacher (played by Kennedy), the school’s lunchroom worker (bassist Tim Tournier) and custodian (drummer Zia Uddin) to form a band that wins her school’s talent contest.
No information was provided about the song’s lyrical theme in the news release announcing the details of the new album, single and video. Lyrics were no t provided with the video, either. The song’s musical arrangement is a driving hard rock composition whose foundation is in Kennedy’s vocals and the rich bassline from Tournier. The guitar work blends elements of 80s hard rock and more modern hard rock for a whole tha is unique in its overall presentation.
Kennedy and his band mates are scheduled to launch a tour in support of The Art of Letting Go Oct. 27 in Hamburg, Germany. The European leg of the tour is scheduled to run through Dec. 6 in Belfast, Ireland and includes stops in cities across Europe, such as Paris, France; Prague, Czech Republic and Tilburg, Netherlands.
Following the European run, the band will tentatively embark on a North American tour starting Jan. 17, 2025 in Joliet, IL. The U.S. tour is scheduled to run through Feb. 21 in Spokane, WA. The North American run includes stops in cities nationwide, such as Lawrence, KS; Charlotte, NC and Dallas, TX. The complete European and North American tour schedule is noted below:
