D-A-D Debuts New Album’s Latest Single, Lyric Video

-

June 17 — D-A-D (Disneyland After Dark) is scheduled to release its new album, The Speed of Darkness this fall.

In anticipation of its release, the band unveiled the record’s latest single, ‘The Ghost’ and its companion lyric video Monday. The premiere of the new single follows that of another of the album’s singles, ‘1st, 2nd & 3rd‘ last month. Both songs are available to stream here.

The band’s new single is a clear change of sound and style from its predecessor. Where the former boasts a clear blues-based rock sound, the latter has more of an 80s rock sound. More specifically, there is something in the guitar sound…the echo effect, that at times pairs with the vocals to make for thoughts of songs from The Cure even within that overall 80s rock sound.

The band addressed the lyrical theme in its new single through a prepared statement.

“‘The Ghost’ is an epic banger that shines a light both behind and ahead,” the statement reads. “There is a Scandinavian melancholy in our universe. A song about separated love, loss and hope in a fragmented time. About holding on to something that may come, or which may already have disappeared.”

In related news, D-A-D- also recently announced a tour in support of its forthcoming 13th album.
